MMA Fighting's Mike Heck confirmed with sources with knowledge of the matchup that Bashi (14-2) is set to fight Fury FC featherweight champion Carlos Calderon (11-4, 1 NC) this Saturday at Meta APEX in Las Vegas. Bashi was originally set to face Lucas Brennan, but Brennan suffered a torn ACL , so Calderon now takes his place just four days before fight night.
Bashi has had a rocky start to his UFC run since being signed off of Dana White's Contender Series in 2024. He lost his undefeated record to Christian Rodriguez before rebounding with a first-round submission over John Yannis. However, Bashi fell back into the loss column this past July when he dropped a decision to Jose Delgado.
Calderon makes his short-notice debut on a three-fight win streak, and is 5-1 in his past six fights. "The Chief" is coming off of the first successful defense of his Fury FC title, a five-round unanimous decision win over Lorram Esteves this pst October.
UFC Vegas 124 has seen plenty of changes, with a heavyweight bout between Waldo Cortes-Acosta and Johnny Walker being thrown together as the new main event with Sean Brady being forced out of the originally scheduled headliner opposite Gabriel Bonfim due to injury. Strawweight title contenders Tatiana Suarez and Virna Jandiroba meet in the co-main event.
