Kellie Pickler has put a legal battle with her former parents-in-law to rest.
The American Idol alum, 40, reached a confidential settlement with her late husband Kyle Jacobs’ parents, Reed and Sharon, over his property, according to documents obtained by PEOPLE on Wednesday, Nov. 4.
Kyle’s parents and Pickler “have fully resolved all claims, disputes, and requests for relief by and between them,” the docs state, adding that they’re “satisfied with the distribution of assets” of the estate.
The legal battle was settled after more than two years of entanglement, which began with his parents claiming the country singer refused to return their son’s items, according to May 2024 documents obtained by PEOPLE. The items listed include several firearms, jewelry, instruments, an iPhone and more.
PEOPLE reached out to Pickler’s attorneys and rep for comment.
Kyle died by suicide in February 2023 at age 49. Months after his death, Pickler shared a statement with PEOPLE thanking fans for their support.

“One of the most beautiful lessons my husband taught me was in a moment of a crisis, if you don’t know what to do, ‘do nothing, just be still,’” she said at the time. “I have chosen to heed his advice.”
“Thank you to my family, friends, and supporters, for the countless letters, calls, and messages that you have sent my way,” she continued. “It has truly touched my soul and it’s helping me get through the darkest time in my life. As many of you have told me, you are all in my prayers.”

After his death, Pickler largely remained out of the spotlight and made her return to the stage 14 months later at a star-studded Patsy Cline tribute at the Ryman Auditorium in April 2024.
At the event, she performed “The Woman I Am,” which she wrote with Kyle, and paid tribute to him on stage.
“I know he is here with us tonight,” she said of Kyle, whom she married in 2011.
In May, Pickler returned to American Idol 20 years after she first appeared on the show and gave her first interview on the show’s official podcast.
“It’s just come full circle, I guess,” she said at the time. “And 20 years, like you said, it’s so nice that each time you come back to Idol, it’s kind of like you pick up right where you left off with everyone. I hope people really believe me when I say this, it is a family here. It is an Idol family.”
