USA TODAY Sports

In a wild week of conference championships, we've seen No. 1 UConn handle business as usual in the Big East, No. 2 UCLA obliterate Iowa for their second consecutive Big Ten title, Texas knock off South Carolina in the SEC and West Virginia jump Michigan State and Minnesota with their win in the Big 12, among others. All that serves as a fitting preview for the Madness that lies ahead.

In just a few hours, 68 teams across the country will know what their path to a national championship will require. Thirty-one conference champions will already know their spots are secured via automatic bids, but the remaining 37 will have to sweat it out as they watch their postseason hopes unfold in real time -- especially those that have been on the bubble in Bracketology.

Here's everything you need to know about Selection Sunday:

When is Selection Sunday?

  • Date: Sunday, March 15

Selection Sunday for the 2026 women's NCAA Tournament will take place on Sunday, March 15 shortly following the men's bracket reveal. It is widely considered the first official event of the March Madness season, as First Four games don't start until three days later.

Unlike the men's tournament, the first two rounds of women's March Madness are hosted by the higher seeded team of each matchup. The regional rounds, the Sweet 16 and Elite Eight, will be played in Fort Worth, Texas and Sacramento, California from March 27-30.

The Final Four will be held at the Mortgage Matchup Center in Phoenix, Arizona on April 3 with the national championship game scheduled for two days later in the same venue.
